How to find a prison pen pal.

Believe in Second Chances? Become a Prison Pen Pal

Infographic mapping different reasons why someone would want to start a prison correspondenceThe graphic portrays three reasons why someone would want to start a prison correspondence to make a difference in someone's life. The first reason is believing in second chances- that a pen pal relationship can make a positive impact on the life of someone in prison. The second reason is to help reduce recidivism- contact with the outside world helps those incarcerated to reintegrate. The final reason is to learn more about yourself by starting a prison correspondence.

Have you ever thought about beginning a correspondence with an incarcerated pen pal? Studies show that a single pen pal can make a significant impact on the life and rehabilitation of someone in prison and can ultimately contribute to reducing recidivism. Writing to someone who is incarcerated can lead to unsuspected positive changes on both sides of the fence.

We are proud to announce our collaboration with our Preferred Pen Pal Partner, Wire of Hope! Like Pelipost, Wire of Hope was created from their founders’ personal experience with incarceration. We both believe in the power of communication with our incarcerated loved ones and the importance of advocating for keeping real letters and photographs inside prisons. Wire of Hope’s Prison Pen Pal Program connects incarcerated people with volunteer pen pals from all over the world for a meaningful experience.
